St. Paul's Hospital Proposal
We approached this project by studying successful urban squares. The varying scales and diverse programs of these precedents helped us comprehend the site, and the unique role St Paul's could play in Vancouver's urban fabric. London's Somerset House and St. Mark's Square became key precedents.
Our scheme proposes a series of interconnected open and covered courtyards, organized in relation to circulation. We created a spectrum of enclosures, including one collective, multipurpose urban enclave, a series of open public spaces, as well as private spaces for exclusive use by the staff and residents of the hospital.
